aunty ivy shared a story during vision night.

a man walked into a barber shop to have his hair cut. he felt something tug at his heart to talk to his barber about God, and so he did.
"do you believe in God?"
"no, there is no God," the barber replied.
and try as he did, the man was unable to convince his barber that God exists.

he walked out of the shop and saw a man who was shabbily dressed, and who looked as if he never had a shower, or a haircut for the last 10 years. something clicked within him, and he rushed back into the barber shop.
"look! you say there is no God. well, i tell you, there is no barber."
the barber was indignant.
"what do you mean there is no barber! there is! i am a barber!"
but the man shook his head and said, "follow me then! i'll show you that there is no barber."

they went outside of the shop, and the man showed the homeless fellow to the barber.
"see? there is no barber!"
and the barber said, "see what? there's nothing to see but that dirty man!"

the man smiled, and he said, "no. there is no barber. if there was, his hair would have had been cut."
the barber protested against such a theory, and he said, "but that man never came to me! if he did, i would have cut his hair!"
"that's exactly it. you say there is no God, because you did not look for him first. He is always there, waiting for you to come to him."


i liked this story. it spoke to me. of course i cant narrate it the way aunty ivy did, but the idea's there. i guess God's always just waiting for me to come to him. sunday's worship was qt good, and i particularly liked the song "Draw Me Close to You". it was all i needed. (:
